Acupuncture
Detox
Acupuncture has become a popular form a
therapeutic relief for a variety of different ailments. The process of
acupuncture consists of inserting special needles into different areas
of the body to relieve pain; where the needles are inserted depends
what ailment is sought to be treated.
Acupuncture has roots that go way back
into traditional Chinese culture, where it was used to treat chronic
conditions. Soldiers back then who were wounded by arrows, claimed
that the chronic conditions that were bestowed upon them were fixed by
the arrow wound. This is where acupuncture started and has since then
became popular in most parts around the world. The World Health
Organization has recognized that 28 (and maybe more) different
ailments can be treated through acupuncture.
One of the movements that acupuncture has
became famous for, however, is detoxification. Detoxification is a
process that substance abusers go through in their fight to overcome
their addictions. Many acupuncture specialists have seen significant
improvement in drug and alcohol addicts after they have undergone just
one acupuncture session. One of the most famous acupuncture detox
programs is located in New York City at Lincoln Hospital. Here,
Psychiatrist Dr. Michael Smith, along with his staff, performs
acupuncture detoxification therapy on more than 250 substance abusers
every single day.
Dr. Michael Smith and his staff hold the
theory that the entire body can be manipulated by inserting needles
into certain parts of the ear, stimulating special parts that can
affect the entire body. There has been an astounding success rate with
the patients that Dr. Michael Smith and his staff treat; some patients
even experiencing lessened symptoms and cravings immediately after the
first acupuncture section. Typically when a substance abuser is going
through detoxification, he or she will become unruly quite often and
act out; however, doctors and psychiatrists are backing acupuncture
detoxification because the majority of patients experience of sense of
serenity and an increased ability to focus. This mental clarity helps
the patient more reasonable to going through counseling, which will
further help the detoxification process.
The success of the acupuncture
detoxification clinic at Lincoln Hospital has become so successful
that the NADA (National Acupuncture Detoxification Association) wants
to help model other acupuncture detoxification clinics after the
Lincoln Hospital clinic. In fact, there are over 400 acupuncture
detoxification programs in the United States that have been modeled
after the Lincoln Hospital program.
Drug abuse is becoming more and more a
common problem in the United States; but where there is a problem,
there are individuals who want to rid themselves of this addiction.
Naturally, when substance abusers attempt to quit abusing their
substance(s) of choice, they go through a detoxification process. One
of the fastest growing and popular ways to go about detoxification
process is by means of acupuncture.
The acupuncture process for
detoxification is usually done by inserting small needles into certain
areas of the ear by trained acupuncture specialists. The whole goal is
to help speed up the body’s will to get rid of toxins. There are more
than 400 acupuncture detox programs in the United States so if there
is a need or a want to try acupuncture then it should not take too
long to find one.
